![]() ![]() We were also informed that the hotel was at 100% capacity. They seemed to know we would come back and were ready with another "prime time room" that would be available the next day. A half hour later, our room was filled with maintainance people working on our "special room" that we figured was a spare parts room that smelled! We were patient while all the repairs were done and we again, for the third time went back to Public Relations to complain. I thought that it was some type of "mexican chair" but later noticed that there were NO SEAT CUSHINS on it top or bottom! We made calls to get the air conditing fixed and the safe because we had to sign a document releasing the resort from any liability should our room be broken into or robbed. I grabbed a warm beer out of the refrigerator and saw that it was half full like someone was hanging out in the room drinking a cervasa and taking a break! I opened another full beer this time and I sat in the most uncomfortable chair I have ever sat in. I then attempted lock up our valuables but could not lock the safe. It had to be 75-80 degrees inside the room where we sweat together putting our things away. We started to unpack and found that the air conditing did not work. Situated as far out as possible in the resort, there was a very long walk to everything. It was very special once the door was opened. They brought us to a "Special Room" according to the Bellman that "special people" go to when they are not happy with their room. They did agree to move our room to another with a King size bed so we agreed. I wanted to speak to the General Manager of the resort and they refused to let us talk to him. Who reads the fine print on anything? We have been Iberostar clients for many years and have stayed at Iberostar Resorts in four countries and have never been spoken to like that! We refused the room and were brought to the secret "Public Relations Office" around the corner to try to work things out. We spoke to Christin and Karinay who told us that "if we read the fine print, we would have known that they (Iberostar Del Mar) could assign us to any room and we would have no recourse". We did book a King size bed through Apple Vacations. Being a very tall couple, we asked to be transported back to Check In to see if another room was available for us. ![]() Everything was so smooth! He opened our room and we saw that we had two double beds and no King size. We arrived at the resort after a 30 minute transfer that was also great and were checked In immediately and brought to our room via golf cart by the Bellman. We had a great direct flight which made our arrangements even better. My wife and I went to the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar on February 23rd to escape from the snow. Check it out if you want to try this resort. This is a long review with a lot of good information. ![]()
